Lipetsk Airport was built in 1966. At this time it was designed to serve no more than 100 passengers. Reconstruction and modernization of the airport onits history has been repeated many times. Recent work on the reconstruction of the airport began in 2013. Their value exceeds 1 billion rubles. The funds were allocated by the federal budget and the authorities of the region. The project is implemented by the regional administration and the Ministry of Transport within the framework of the federal program for the development of the transport network of the Russian Federation.
The work involves the modernization of the buildingterminal building, runway extension, construction of a command and control tower building, installation of a light-signal system for receiving aircraft under unfavorable weather conditions, construction of a new drainage system.
