Talagi Airport is a large airport with international status and located in the north of Russia near Arkhangelsk. It was founded in the 60s of the XX century.
The airport of Talagi was named after the town of the same name in the Arkhangelsk region, next to which it is located. The history of its foundation is directly connected with the formation of northern aviation.
The airport was built in the winter of 1963 by the militarybuilders who built an artificial concrete runway here. The first aircraft was a domestic Il-18, which landed here on February 5. The aircraft carried out a technical flight from Moscow to Arkhangelsk. It is this date that is considered the birthday of the airport. Since February 25, planes have started flying from Talagi daily to Leningrad and Moscow. In November 1964 the airport complex began to operate. Since 1966 the service of the An-24 aircraft has begun. By 1974, the fleet was replenished with the Yak-40, Tu-134 and Mi-6 and Mi-8 helicopters.
In 1973, the airport was establishedCivil Aviation Administration. The geography of the routes included more than 60 settlements of the USSR and allied states. In 1978, the amount of passenger traffic was more than 1.5 million people. In 1991, the Arkhangelsk air squadron used virtually all types of aircraft and helicopters, with the exception of IL-86 and Il-62. In 1991, the airport of Talagi became an independent organization.
Since 1998, here air base # 89 of the air defense corps No. 21 is based. It includes the Mi-8, MTV-1 and An-26 aircraft.
In 2009, Talagi received an admission to the maintenance of modern Airbus "A-320" and "A-319".
At the end of August 2011, plannedwork on the reconstruction of the air terminal complex. Two pedestrian galleries and two teletraps were put into operation as early as 2015. Thanks to this, passengers were boarded on board without going to the platform. The baggage will now be issued on the first floor of the terminal. Other Russian airports, located in the North, do not have telepaths, unlike Talagi. Funds for reconstruction were highlighted by the airport management. In autumn 2015, the construction of a new terminal complex, the area of which is more than 2000 m2. After the terminal construction, the airfield complex will be reconstructed. The drainage system will be improved. Similar works have not been conducted here for more than half a century.
The runway has an artificialasphalt-concrete coating. Its width is 44 meters, and the length is 2.5 kilometers. Such characteristics allow servicing all modifications of helicopters, as well as aircraft types:

Passengers departing from Talaga note thatreconstruction has benefited the airport - improved infrastructure, there was a free parking, Wi-Fi, souvenir shops opened. However, there are some points to work on:
The airport of Talagi is one of the fewtransport nodes of the European North of Russia. Passengers note that the structure of the airport complex is imperfect. But the reason for this is the fact that the work on the modernization of the terminal and the airport began to be performed only in 2011.
