A foreign passport with a normal "expiration date" is the main document that allows us to cross the borders of our Motherland.

Currently, passports have passports asa new sample, and an old one. The main difference of the new passport is that it is biometric - it contains an electronic chip, which, in addition to the data inscribed in the passport, can contain biometric information (a picture of the iris of the eye). The new passport is valid for 10 years, the old one is valid for 5. In the new passport there are 46 pages, in the old passport - 36. The biometric passport, unlike the old passport, does not include children. Everyone is free to choose which passport to apply for. In each of the options have their pros and cons. The biometric passport is significantly more expensive - the state duty for its issuance will be 2500 rubles for adults and 1200 for children under 14 (for asking for an old passport they will ask 1000 and 300 rubles, respectively). The timing of the action has already been mentioned above. For young children, it is advisable to choose an old passport. Documents under the law are subject to replacement, if the appearance of a person changes significantly, and any baby grows and changes with time. The degree of materiality of changes is determined at the border control, and there is a possibility to spoil your vacation by not getting a grown child through the border. In addition, a new passport will have to wait at least 30 days, while the old one can be ready much faster, especially if it is for the child.

So, what documents for the old passport should be collected:

• Application form. Filled by hand or on the computer. Information on work should be assured at the place of work of the applicant. The applicant puts the signature in the questionnaire in the presence of the FMS officer.
• Internal Russian passport that certifies the identity of the applicant.
• Personal photos (3 pieces) black and white orcolor (for choice), size 35 / 45mm on matte paper. If you need to enter information about children in the passport, you should provide 2 photographs of the same format for each child.
• A receipt confirming the payment of the state fee.
• Labor book (in the event that the applicant, when applying for an old passport, does not work anywhere).
• A military ticket or a certificate from the military registration and enlistment office (for Russian citizens, the male of draft age).
• The permission of military command (for military men).
• Passport (if by the time of submission of documents its validity period has not expired).
• Certificates of birth of children and documents confirming their citizenship (if, when submitting documents, the applicant wants to make information about children).

List of documents for an old passport for minors:

• Application - a form (it is not certified anywhere).
• The birth certificate or the passport of the child, depending on the achievement of 14 years.
• A document certifying the child's nationality.
• The internal passport of the applicant is the parent of the child or other legal representative.
• A document certifying the rights of the legal representative of the child.
• Personal photos (2 pieces) black and white or color (optional) in size 35 / 42mm
• A receipt confirming the payment of the state duty (300 rubles for a child under 14 years old, 1000 for 14 to 18 years). The payer is the legal representative of the child.

When applying for an old passport, the presence of children is not required, but if the child is more than 14 years old, receiving a ready passport, he must personally sign it.

Employees of the FMS, having accepted documents for a foreign passport, must provide a certificate. This is a confirmation of acceptance of the application, which may be required in the event of the emergence and resolution of conflict situations.
