The cycle of short stories "Hunter's Notes", a brief summary and analysis of one of which we will consider in this article, was no exception.

The story "Singers" was released for the first time in 1850 and became the seventeenth in the cycle "Notes of a Hunter". The summary of his story tells how in the poor village of Kolotovka, where everything was peppered with despondency: and the dirty road, the skinny rakits, and the rustling huts of the inhabitants, and the huge ravine across the street, there was an event that managed for a moment to wrest all of it participants from the oppressive gloomy reality. This event was the inspired singing of a simple guy named Yashka, nicknamed the Turk.
One day in a tavern on the edge of a ravine,fat, tattered fat kisser Nikolai Ivanovich, a simple-looking peasant with cunning eyes, gathered a "cheerful" company in every sense of the word: the low and fat lame businessman Morgach, the high-strung and abandoned masters of the yard man, Obalduy, awkward as a bear, and the mighty Wild Barin, drawer from a paper mill Yashka Turk, urban philistine Ryadchik and visiting nobleman-hunter (the author of the story), who watched the whole company of peasants from the side.
Summary of the "Hunter's Notes" narratesabout how, from idleness and excitement, two of these peasants (namely: Yashka Turok and Ryadchik) were betting that they should compete in singing and find out for sure who will sing whom. To decide which of them to sing first, the men in the tavern offer to cast lots. Drops first to the Rider. He sings with all diligence, with skill, making a great impression on listeners. Soon they begin to sing along with him and praise each other when Ryadchik pauses.

Yashka abandons everything and covers his face with his hands, after which he becomes pale and tense. With his amazing and penetrating voice, strong, young and sad-mournful at the same time, he sings a simple song, completely giving himself to her with all his hot and passionate soul. Such singing produces a hypnotic impression on everyone who is present in the tavern, including a hunter who has come in by chance and the wife of the taverner, who begins to sob quietly at the window. Yashka's singing is so heartfelt and soulful that tears come to everyone's eyes. When Yashka pauses, the men rush to hug him and kiss him, and Ryadchik himself gives him the victory.
This story from the cycle "Notes of a Hunter", a shortthe content of which was set forth above, shows us how in the environment of rotten and miserable a spark of true talent arises and flares up, a spark of the Divine spirit. This spark only lights up for a brief moment, but at this moment everyone who touches it becomes itself, revealing its true spiritual essence.
