Why do we need a petal valve?

Device to be skippedgaseous and liquid media in one direction and blocking their reverse motion, is called a petal valve. The application was found in axial fans, where atmospheric air enters the room, and in internal combustion engines, which prevents the fuel from returning to the carburetor from the cylinder.

The product for fans consists of a casing, inthe bearings of which are fixed with a specific blade shape. The bearings support the free running of the valve in the event of the fan operating at negative temperatures. A working fan supplies air to the blades, which are constantly in the open position. After the termination of the work, the blades become in their original position, due to which the cross section of the valve is blocked.

There is a special modified valvepetal. Tulip - its second name, based on its design boxed case of four walls. On the axes of the body are rigidly fixed profiled flaps made of galvanized steel. The type of junction of the doors is a lock.

From simple, based on one blade, devicesthe flap check valve features a low response rate and a lower standard flow rate that reveals it. It is particularly advantageous to use such a product in axial fan types, where the flow velocity is smaller in comparison with the radial types.

As for internal combustion engines, for the owners of vehicles, the petal valve resolves several questions. Its petals are made of flexible materials. When the piston goes to compress the mixture, because of the difference in pressures in the reported chambers, they, by virtue of their flexibility, bend, opening the holes in the valve body through which the fuel mixture passes. The onset of the purge phase when the piston moves downwards creates a directional pressure on the opposite side, causing the petals to press against the body, blocking the holes, which prevents the mixture from rolling away in the opposite direction. Among the positive qualities of the product are the following:

  • Fuel economy. The progressive movement of the piston upwards forms a vacuum in the crankcase space. Then, through the carburetor, air is sucked in there, mixed with gasoline, which causes the fuel mixture to form. The mixture is delivered as long as the piston moves upward. As soon as it starts to go down, the pressure exerts pressure on the petal valve, and the petals block the mixture back. Around the carburetor will be clean, and no release of the mixture into the atmosphere occurs, the losses are minimized.
  • Engine power. The petal valve allows you to increase power at low and medium speed. The secret is that more mixture enters the crankcase and into the cylinder, because the portion previously discharged to the atmosphere is used for its intended purpose.

The squat car. This phenomenon - a direct consequence of the previous property - increase in power.
  • Steady idling. The fact is that the idling mode consists of low engine speed. Just at these speeds, the effect of the mixture's reverse motion is most pronounced. The flap valve at each movement of the piston passes into the crankcase the exact amount of the mixture.
  • Simple engine start. The intake of a stable portion of the mixture in the cylinders makes it possible to start the engine more easily, as the saying goes - "with a polotychka."
