Symptoms and treatment of paraproctitis

What is paraproctitis?

Paraproctitis is an inflammatory diseasetissues near the anus or rectum. The disease, depending on the location of the purulent focus, can occur in several forms: rectal, intestine, submucosal and subcutaneous. Although the forms of paraproctitis are different, however, this is not due to differences in approaches to treatment. Treatment of paraproctitis is surgical, because the disease is threatening with serious consequences.

Symptoms

Symptomatic disease is quite bright, becauseDiagnosis is most often not difficult. In patients with paraproctitis, the general condition of the body worsens, they feel weak and malaise. The body temperature rises, chills are felt. In the area of the anal opening, soreness, swelling, local hyperthermia (fever) and hyperemia (redness) appear. Soon on this place there is an abscess. Dimensions of the abscess can be different, as well as its location. The more pus accumulates, the more soreness in the lesion increases. Pain becomes pulsating, jerking. Defecation is difficult due to pain.

If paraproctitis treatment does not start on time, thenthe abscess will capture an ever larger space and all the larger layers. In the future, he gets to the mucous membrane of the intestine and because of its fineness breaks into the rectum. Sometimes the abscess passes through the skin of the perineum. With the release of pus and the release of the purulent sac, the pain goes away, the temperature decreases, the sick person feels a significant improvement. However, positive dynamics is only an appearance - in the future paraproctitis can progress and move into a chronic stage.

Causes of paraproctitis

The disease occurs most often because of hemorrhoids or anal fistulas, which contributes to the inflammation of the tissues near the anus. Can cause paraproctitis and inflamed glands in the anus.

Paraproctitis treatment

Paraproctitis is acute and chronic. In case of acute paraproctitis, the patient needs to seek medical help as soon as possible, since surgery is required. Without surgery, the disease threatens with serious complications right up to a lethal outcome.

During the operation, the patient is given anesthesia. The essence of the operation consists in drainage (liberation from pus) of the abscess. After the surgery, frequent dressings are performed to avoid complications. Patients are prescribed vitamins, antibiotics, drugs to improve immunity.

As a rule, one operation does not relieveparaproctitis. Paraproctitis treatment is usually prolonged. After surgery, repeated abscesses often occur, since fistulas are difficult to heal and promote relapses. Usually, repeated surgery is performed to eliminate the fistula's exit into the rectum.

If the patient does not seek help and treatmentparaproctitis has not been started, then the disease turns into a chronic form. Sometimes chronic paraproctitis can be the result of an operation that has failed. As usual, this form of the disease arises from the fact that fecal matter enters the fistula in the rectum, so the process does not stop - the fistulas heal for a while, then they are opened again. Treatment of chronic paraproctitis is also surgical.

It is important for patients to remember that the symptoms that have begunparaproctitis will not disappear by themselves. Delayed treatment leads to the involvement of all new layers of tissues in the inflammatory process. In the end result accumulated pus can break into the pelvic cavity, which will lead to severe consequences and even to death. And with late surgical treatment of paraproctitis, complications such as impotence, stool incontinence, gas, narrowing of the anus can occur.
